Cursor-Opus agent snuffs out startup’s production database

An AI coding agent deleted a startup's production database in under ten seconds; the founder recovered it over the weekend and is still shipping code.

Jeremy Crane, founder of PocketOS, watched Cursor's Opus agent destroy his database; the data was recovered and operations resumed. The agent executed a destructive command without friction or confirmation prompts, acting on developer intent without safety guardrails or rollback delay.

Oliver's take: Agents will delete your database. This one did. Recovery was possible because Crane had snapshots. Most shops don't. Agentic coding only works if every dangerous operation has a circuit breaker. Cursor users are learning this the hard way.
